Does ecuFlash support Euro MY04 STi?

Does the latest ecuFlash v1.28 support Euro MY04 STi? This is NOT a DBW. I'm using OpenPort 1.2. What one of the following do I select?:

I ask because my friend came round today with his MY04 WRX STi P** and I thought I'd have a look (for learning purposes only). I've done plenty of flashing on my Euro MY03 WRX and was suprised when I couldn't get the ROM off :-o

On his he only had the green connectors to I connected those. There is NO white (flash) block connector to jumper - unlike mine.

I'll have another go sometime next week but would appriciate if anyone could let me know if I'm waisting my time.

Cheers,
-Steve.

doesn't prodrive use ecutrash? Might be a locked ecu as well.

If your friend has triple P on his ecu then it is possible the ecu could be locked out by the tek flash that was done. The recent flashes change something so only the tek flash software can access the rom. Think it was something around 12 months ago when this started happening.

I feel pretty certain that ecuflash would work on that model year, not sure which option to choose but would guess at the 2004-2005 WRX. I think this would be for 32 bit non-DBW ecu.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I didn't mention that I successfully used ecuExplorer to do a number of WOT runs that I'll use as a baseline before tuning.

I'll check it all out again when I see him next and report back. Hopefully I'll take a look at the ECU case as well.

Just remembered something else that might be important. ecuExplorer reported the ECU as a MY01/02 AG820-821 even though it's a MY04. I've read a few threads saying how the 'tek flash base image is this one so I assume this is normal.

I was wondering if this is affecting ecuFlash when working out how to communicate with the ECU?

The AG820 reporting is usual, this PPP must be based on the "xxx" ROM issued by Ecutek for map switching.

But you mentionned something very strange : all MY2004 STi have the jumper connector, even MY2005 have same.
Are you sure it's not locked up somewhere in the wiring ?
Or maybe someone (when then PPP'ed ?) modified the wires in a permanent way ?

And, just to make sure you have not tried anything else, you must select WRX2001-2003 protocol to read this one ;)
Of course, you must fix the jumpers issue first...

Great nice to get confirmation on this one.

I know this is what has thrown me. I looked quite well and didn't see it. Is it like my MY03 WRX one - a white female connector? This goes against my own instructions on this page:

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/ ... urECU#toc4

If anyone out there with an EDM MY04 WRX STi could confirm the colour(s) of the wires going in to the flash block connector it'll make it easier to trace.

Ok, I'll continue to use this setting. Now to find this dame flash block connector....

Did you give a try "as is" ?
You may found a permanent jumper set-up... even if I can't see any reason for that.

I tried twice on the 2001-2003 WRX setting and twice on the 2003-2005 setting and once on the 2004 DBW setting.

I know mine is VERY sensitive on the ignition on then Ok thing. Hopefully when I see him again this week I'll try all this again.

With same car, I launch the soft first (hitting OK), then I switch the ignition ON... it boots perfectly, 100% times ;)

All,

Quick update on my progress. A big thank you to everyone above who kept me looking for the flash block connector. Finally found the damn flash block connector by following the wires! It was _completely_ hidden from view and strapped right up into the loom.

I've got slight problemRead the ROM using the latest ecuFlash but couldn't save it! I'm just going to write a separate post on that now. Hopefully I'll have this sorted soon so can get on with it.

I read the ECU fine by selecting the 2001-2003 Subaru Impreza WRX option, connecting the green test connectors and shorting the flash block connector as normal.

Thanks again for everyone's help, much appreciated.
-Steve.
