yes, Gatecrasher looks for the F-ZTAT connector, which YP mentioned already:
http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php ... highlight=
pages of Kashima:
http://kaele.com/~kashima/car/index-e.html
Kashima's pages about H8/539 flash:
http://kaele.com/~kashima/car/evo/
and in google translate:
http://www.google.com/translate?u=http% ... l=ja&tl=en

If you look for F-ZTAT, you will find that Renesas provides the flash program:
http://www.renesas.com/fmwk.jsp?cnt=pro ... ng_program
download:
http://www.renesas.com/fmwk.jsp?cnt=/do ... yerId=1272
which is now replaced by FTD (FLASH Development Toolkit)

I believe the port on the board is a JTAG connector. Not specifically F-ZTAT.

I could be wrong though. I'm still a rookie :(

It does very much look like a JTAG to me too, I did think that when I looked at the pics before.

This is probably old info to some people, but I found it interesting.

That's where my theory got started. All Mitsus since 1998 (except the 1998 Galant) have been reflashable. Based on how General Motors stuff works, you need a utility (kernel) and the actual calibration files.

The RPG files I found on the DSM-ECU mailing list have the ROM calibration image and some other stuff I can't identify. Probably the utility/kernel, and possibly some instructions for the scan tool itself.

I've got my hands full with other stuff, and I don't know nearly enough about the H8/539 to begin to identify let alone write a kernel for one.

Surely someone can get something going using the Mitsu software as a basis.

What about going a different route, and logging the connections while using a MUT? The tool would be hard to get, but not impossible. I'm such a newb at this, it is probably painful to read. For that I appologize, but I am searching and attempting to learn.
