Problems reading from ECU

I've been trying to read from the ECU of a 2001 UK WRX (with PPP) without success.
I've jumpered the 2 spades in the white connector, connected the green test connectors and turned on the ign. before reading.
I get a "Kernel get version" message in the debug window, which then throws an error window suggesting that i check the log for details? - The process then aborts?
Does anyone know what the problem is and how i can resolve it? - I'm using the latest version of ECU Flash.

It's probably just a timing issue.
Don't turn on the ignition until you press the OK button in ECUflash then turn it on as quickly as you can after pressing ok.
Are you in the UK ? If so I'm happy to help you out depending on where you are.

Hello,
I've got the same problem and now works
This is what i do:
Turn off ingnition
---Open Ecuflash
---Click the button with ecuread
---it will come a little window that say's to turn on the ignition
---put the mouse over the ok on the window
---turn on the ignition
---and sooo quick click the ok button on the window
---and start to read
I've an WRX EU 2001 with A4SE700D think the same like You.

i have exactly the same problem on my 02 EU STI and i so would like to know what jumpers i have to add to have it working, i have ordered the both with my 1.2 openport, is there any risk if i plug them at the same time
in the beggining of ecuflash, i can't find my car too, is it a problem or not?

I have the same prob connecting to the ECU of a MY04 EU WRX. Is it really a timing issue cause I tried everything listed here and it still can't read.
