Having troubles with EcuFlash on Vista

I have done a little research and can't find a solid solution to this issue. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program several times but I am unable to get any results. I am running a compaq computer with vista and EcuFlash will not read my ROM. The ROM is in a 2007 WRX. When I start RomRaider though to log I am able to log just fine. I am just not able to use EcuFlash.

I've run it fine on Vista and 7 32-bit.

Did it work the first time you downloaded it or did you have to uninstall and reinstall a couple times.

First time. I've never had trouble with it. I'm using 1.43Beta. Beware though- this version updates the OP2 firmware and uses a different driver, and I've heard that once you've updated that, you can't go back. I don't see a reason to though.

Ok, what cable are you using the op2 or 1.3. Ive heard my 07 wrx is compatible with the 1.3 and vista sometimes works better with the 1.3 if so, what am I missing out on with using the 1.3

I'm using OP2, but I use a 1.3 cable for WRX02-style ECUs (LLine output is broken on my cable). Both work fine. OP2 should be far easier generally and once you have it there should be no reason that I know of to use the earlier cables.

In ECUFlash, does it connect at all to the cable and retrieve any SSM information from the car, i.e., SSM ID? If so, the cable is fine and either the ECU is locked or the test mode connector is not 'on' properly. If you're not sure, post a screen shot of the ECUFlash screen after you try and read the ROM.

Was able to find some time today to do it. Here is the screen shot I got of the key in the on position EcuFlash open, Cable connected and test connectors connected.

So it works on ROMRaider, but ECUFlash 1.42 doesn't detect it? If ROMRaider detects it and it works there, the drivers are installed. It's just that they may be incompatible drivers with that version of ECUFlash. My guess is that the firmware has been upgraded to the latest beta, by ROMRaider, but I can't be sure.
Do this at your own risk, but I suggest trying the ECUFlash 1.43 beta (get it from here: http://www.evoscan.com/ecuflash/ecuflas ... 52_win.exe). It should update the OP2 drivers for you and the firmware. Works for me.

Tried it out with 1.42 still installed. I got the below screen. I am able to click "Read ROM" but it comes up with a blank screen. I will try uninstalling 1.42 tonight after work and retry and see if that works.

Uninstalled 1.42 and tried using 1.43 again but came up with the same result. I uninstalled every trace of them and am reinstalling 1.43.

Tried with 1.43 and downloaded the new ECU definitions off of RomRaider but I am still getting the same screen.

switched where the directory was trying to read files from to the whole metadata file instead of just the subaru file and everything is working perfectly
