P2443 code

Postby geomax45 » Thu Nov 03, 2011 3:17 pm

I have a 2006 WRX with 71k miles on it. I had the P2443 code pop up a couple of years ago and the parts (air valves?) were replaced on both sides under warranty. A week ago or so the engine light comes on and my wife takes the car to the dealership, who says the P2443 popped up and we have to replace both assemblies again. $2k or something.

The tech at the dealership said that we didn't really need these parts to be operational for the car to function properly. Something about the air being used to heat the cat converter when the car was cold. He also said that they, as a Subaru dealer, could not disable the code, but that it could be done.

My two questions:

1. Can the code be disabled? How?
2. If so, will it damage the car?

I appreciate any help given.

I can't comment on the mechanical aspect of this query, but that code should be disableable using ECUFlash.

Ok. That's a good start! I appreciate the comment. The more I research this, the more I see that it is a big problem with the turbo'd Subarus.
