2008 WRX STI for Europe

Postby ARCHPOBEDITEL » Wed Jun 01, 2011 2:17 am

Hello, everybody. I need help. My ECU flashed improperly... After rebuilding the short block, my car (WRX STI 2008) doesn't go as it should. It's become weaker than simply stock WRX. I need help... There is no one here in Russia, who I can ask to reflash the ECU. I want to do it by myself... What should I begin with?
I'd be very thankful if anyone replied...
The configuration is:
BC 79mm crankshaft; BC rods; Manley platinum lightweight pistons, 9.8:1 CR.
AEM cold air intake, decatted downpipe and catless axle back...
I suppose that the problem is in pistons, The ECU can't get on automatically with CR 9.8:1... Turbocharger is stock... It doesn't blow... Only 1.1 bars... On the third speed gear the car dies....
Thank you everyone!

What was the reason to build turbo engine with CR=9.8 here in Russia taking into account the quality of a gas available ?
Any responsible tuner should stay away of your engine unless you are going to use applicable gas grade.

Stock ecu does not provide applicable Target AFR for internal engine cooling and does retard ignition timing dramatically in order to avoid knocking.
As a result EGT is extremely high and there is a great risk of preignition that breaks pistons in seconds.

You are from Russia, sir, as I suppose! Am I right?
Bad news to me... And what can be done now? Maybe I can buy colder spark plugs???
Why do you think that 98 petrol is really bad?
As I suppose new ECU is needed. Motec or else...
Anyway thank you your response.
By the way can I write in Russian here?

The problem is that high performance high CR engines need octane badly.
Otherwise you are to retard timing and use extremely rich mixture for internal engine cooling that is counterproductive for engine torque\power.

2.0l CR=10 EJ205 JDM turbo engine needs about 10.5 AFR @1bar to survive under 200g\s engine load.
It may be done with stock ecu reflashed. I doubt that aftermarket ecu is a better choice.

Much better performance may be got for CR=8-8.5 with octane available.
