Issue Reflashing 2011 STI

Postby smitty5788 » Mon May 16, 2011 5:57 am

I tried to flash my 2011 STI yesterday and had an error about one second after starting it. I was able to reset the ECU and the car starts and runs fine. I want to figure out what the issue could have been before I try this again. This is what ECU Flash logged after i started the flash:

J2534 API Version: 04.04
J2534 DLL Version: 0.50.2598 Jun 26 2009 15:02:29
Device Firmware Version: 1.10.3020
Kernel get version
SSM2 init
Interface closed

After this I wasnt able to flash or test flash without getting the same messages and the car was stuck in test mode until I reset the ECU. I completed a test flash before trying to flash which was successful and earlier yesterday I was able to read the ROM off the car and I have been using the Romraider logger with no issues.

I am running the software on a 64bit Windows 7 laptop. I wasnt aware until yesterday that there was a beta edition of ECU Flash that supports windows 7 so I wasnt running it. Could that be the issue? But if so, then why could I test flash and read the ROM?

If anyone has any ideas pleas let me know, I need to get this figured out thanks!

Perhaps post the factory ROM on this forum; there may be something odd with it. I'd definitely grab the latest ECUFlash Beta if you're using Win7 64-bit.
If it reads and test flashes it should flash. If there's a genuine error though with just the flashing part, I wouldn't totally discount the possibility of a new processor variant. Colby (Tactrix) would have to get involved to fix it if that were the case.

I read the factory ROM, tuned that file then did a test flash successfully then tried to flash and it failed.

Right. Sounds like you've used the correct process.
Brand new car could mean brand new processor. I hope that's not the case. Get the latest ECUFlash first, and discount that possibility.
