I'm using 1.41 as I was never able to get 1.42 to work at all. The drivers seemed incompatible with my OS (Vista Home Premium.) I find it odd that when installing 1.41 (i've done this many times to try and alleviate the above error) that I get a message regarding "known driver incompatibility with the version of Windows XP." Funny because, again, I'm on a Vista OS. Once the install is complete I'm able to pull the ROM, log and use things like Merchgod's Learning View, however I always get the same above message when trying to do a test flash. When I install 1.42 over top of 1.41 or completely fresh from the ground up, the drivers never work and the system ends up not recognizing the usb device. I also find it odd that with 1.41 installed now, I no longer get the message about a newer version of ECUflash being available upon opening the program. Any insight appreciated.

Some more info on the issue:

The image I'm trying to flash was the original ROM pulled from the ECU. I have flashed the ECU approximately 50 times with multiple revisions to this ROM. The cable still provides the ability to datalog and read ROMs.

There are a couple of variants of mirco in those ECUs with slightly different memory mappings for some of the reflashing parts, which would explain why you can read etc but not reflash. I think that has been catered for in the latest version of ECUFlash (1.42)- might be worth persevering with that version.

Looks like my Tactrix cable is bad or well on its way. I used a Vag-com cable tonight on 1.41 and it worked like a champ.
