Can't read on 06 WRX

I have Ecuflash 1.4 installed, using OpenPort 2.0 tactrix cable, followed the steps to the T, including connecting the green connectors for test mode. I've installed/reinstalled twice and I still get the following error message:

Is it the cable that is faulty? Am I doing something wrong? is there not enough battery power? The car is bone stock btw; no previous tunes.
