I'm not sure what all is involved, but is there any chance of dumping/flashing Hondas any time soon, Colby? It seems that the guys on pgmfi.org are afraid of anything after OBD-I for some reason, and I'd really like to be able to tune my buddy's RSX.

I've looked around with the little free time I've had lately, and I haven't found anything yet.

Do you know what CPU is used in the Honda ECU you are interested in?

Neverlies, yeah, but like I said.. it seems they are afraid of OBD-II. When it came out, they just started taking the ECUs out and putting their old chipped OBD-I ECUs in them. And now with the K series they, apparantly, just haven't done anything. And the only info they have on the wiki about the RSX is the oz type r.

I'm looking forward to playing with their 3D (4D?) maps, though. I think Hondata is the only thing they can tune them with for the moment.

All I know right know is that the engine in the 2002 type S is a K20A2. We're going to meet up this weekend and pull the ECU out and see what we find.

Take good closeup pictures of everything. Useful things to know that help identify the chips:

* The exact part number text on top of the chips (may need to remove clear coatings to see properly). Sometime the chips are embossed, and it is very easy to read the text if you put a piece of scotch tape over the chip.

* The chip package shape (pictures are sufficient)

* The pin count of the chips. Often this is written on the PCB silkscreen.

* What pin numbers the crystals and power supply / ground lines are connected to.

Usually Honda ECU's use OKI microcontrollers, not sure what the newer ones use.

Alright Colby, here's the best we could get..

The main CPU has 144pins and the following printed on it:
645
0KI JAPAN
L660592
147225362

I'm not sure exactly what else you need, so let me know if I'm missing anything important. I don't know what the crystals you're talking about are, and I'm also not sure where the power source is grounded.

Hmm.. yep. I thought about it this morning and thought I might have forgotten to attach the image..

It's not that great, but I can answer questions if you have any.

My guess is that it is an OKI ML66Q592. Here is the datasheet. It would be nice to look at a lot of Honda ECUs to see how much the processor they use varies from car to car and year to year.

this is an effort to flash the Accord 2005, which is the same hardware platform as other 2005+ honda/acura ecu's.

id like to contribute on any way possible, since i happen to own a 2005 Acura TSX which needs a reflash if that way is found. :D

you may be able to solder a 10 pin BDM header onto that bad boy
I could be rong Id like to see one myself

jak, that's from a 2002 RSX Type S. I'd really like to avoid having to solder chips on it -- OBD-II says you don't need to do that.
