Need help Newbie (EcuFlash V1.34.1435)!!!!!!!

Postby sebf » Mon Mar 03, 2008 8:28 am

I downloaded EcuFlash V1.34.1435 the other day and I got the following when I go into it:
[17:25:35.000] Version 1.34.1435
[17:25:35.000] 11 memory models read.
[17:25:35.000] scanning for metadata models in C:/Program Files/OpenECU/EcuFlash/rommetadata
[17:25:36.187] 219 ROM metadata models scanned.
[17:25:36.187] checksum module "subarudbw" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] flashing tool "wrx02" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] flashing tool "wrx04" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] flashing tool "sti04" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] flashing tool "sti05" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] flashing tool "mitsukernel" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] flashing tool "mitsukernelocp" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] flashing tool "shbootmode" loaded.
[17:25:36.187] error loading FTD2XX.DLL

Is the last line normal? I was trying to read my ECU and nothing was happening? Please help.

To read I was running the engine, connected the black connector under the steering column and plug it in my laptop and opened EcuFlash. Is that how you are supposed to do it? Also, to reflash the ECU, which connector are you suppose to use and connect to other than the big black one. I bought the universal cable for both Mitsubishi & Subaru cars. I have a 2004 WRX wagon EJ20 Engine. So which other connector do I use and where (blue & white connectors)? I know I have a lot of question, but I am a newbie at this stuff. I do not want to screw up my engine! The major reason I want to use the software and cable is to get rid of my check engine light due to cutting the CAT sensor on the mid-pipe. I had to cut it because I couldn't remove it when I change my exhaust. Anyway, I would alos appreciate if anybody out there has a ROM Map for a 2004 WRX wagon EJ20 Engine that has a cold air intake, a turbo back exhaust, running on 91 octane fuel in high altitude (1 mile or 5280 feet high).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

How do you do that? When I went through the installation of the software it said that it successfully install the drivers for the cable.

go into device manager and find the port under com ports, right click and update driver then browse to the driver location. sometimes you need to manually point to the driver files, search the faqs on this board and it will detail this

Thanks for the tip, I will try that tonight! :D

Do you know if I need to connect the white & blue connector to read my ECU or those are only when I want to reflash? If so, where do they connect to? I am assuming that they are under the steering column vicinity right? :?
