Postby brucer » Sat Dec 01, 2007 8:31 pm

can't get a once used laptop with 1.29 to work with 1.34.

removed everything ecuflash related without success. unfortunately even removed older version, so can't work with that laptop. xp platform

another laptop without earlier version ecuflash works well with 1.34. xp platform

What happens? Error message?

Sometimes problems with old stuff in "C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata" directory can keep ECUflash from running properly (either won't start, or crashes immediately). Try installing to a new directory (like /ecuflash2), or if you don't have any custom files in /EcuFlash directory just delete it and reinstall.

hmmm, I'll try a new directory.

I did go through and remove as much as I could find. Right through the ecuflash folders, thinking I could do a clean re-install. drivers and all.

what happens is simple enough. I go to do an upload and the box comes up empty, there is just nothing to choose from. ie evo8, suburu, etc.

Do you have anything in this directory?

C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\read templates

The XML in that directory should be what is used to populate the box that comes up when you try to read.

Ok, that's what you should see. 8-9 XML files, all very small. Perhaps NTFS file permissions are set wrong and ecuflash.exe cannot read the files?

Can you try reinstalling ECUflash, but select a new directory. Say,

C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash2\

Instead of

C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\

Then try running it from the new directory.

thanks,
I've tried the second directory with no effect.
luckily for me I have another laptop, just would like to use my old brick instead of the loosie goosie laptop.

it all started when I tried to upload a 1.33 ecuflash on a 1.29 install. I then removed everything and tried installing several times. Flushing every ecuflash related file. Then I tried moving a working program from another computer and still no change.

you know what, I think I have been misrepresenting what is going on.

I get to the window that should say," turn on key...etc, but that window is blank.
