Evoflash XML def. problems

Postby peteb » Wed Sep 26, 2007 2:18 am

I hope this is the right forum!!!
Uk spec FQ320 Evo 9
I am able to upload the rom from vehicle and the rom menu is visible in the left hand window.
When i do this i do not get any option to select an Xml Definition file to use.
I have tried uploading the rom again and again but still no option.
The Def file is within the Rommetadata menu but i do not know how to link the two together to enable me to read the rom data
Any advise??

Other people might be able to give you more complete detail, but from what I understand, it reads a software code out of the ROM and selects the XML with the matching code. This is done automatically; you don't get to manually choose the XML to use.

If you're not getting any maps etc showing up, then either the XML def you have is incomplete or has errors, or there is another def that is being used instead (somehow).

Here's a trick you can use: add some 'test' text into a valid field in the XML def you want it to use, say for example the submodel field, eg:

<submodel>EVO9 (Does It Use This File?)</submodel>

and then look in ECUFlash to make sure it got the right file. It'll be obvious if there are 2 files contending which each other, or if your def is incomplete.
