I can write (flash ecu )with no problem so it is not a tactrix cable driver problem but when I try to read I get this... seems I'm missing an xml file or something and can't select vehicle type.

The picture you posted requires you to click on one of the items in the list. Once you do that, the "Read" button will not be grayed out and you can press it.

You say you have an error. That's what you need to post a picture of, or at least write out what it says. When do you get this error? Did you get past the screen you posted?

You can read and save a ROM as long as the car type and ECU are generally supported.

Also it helps if you post what car you have. Year, model, and market (EU, US JDM, etc) at least.

For me the window appear blank there is no option to select at all this happen after I upgraded it to ver 1.30. It was working fine on v1.29a on my JDM Evo 9GT ECU. With the v1.29 I can still flash with edited map. On the 1.30 I cannot even do a write to rom error "unable to connect to vehicle interface" I check all the cable and connections they are fine.

Check this directory and see if you see anything:

C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\read templates\

You should see this:
read_evo5.xml
read_evo7.xml
read_evo9.xml
read_sti04.xml
read_sti05.xml
read_wrx02.xml
read_wrx04.xml

If they are missing, reinstalling ECUflash should work.

1. Check this directory. Do you see the files right now before touching anything? Yes or no.
2. If you do not see these files, reinstall Ecuflash. Check the directory again. If you now see the files, you should be ok.
3. If you see the files now, try reading. You should be ok.
4. If you still don't see the files after #2, or you DO see the files but ECUflash still doesn't give you any read options post back and I'll walk you through some other stuff. Your file permissions may be hosed.

Also, post your operating system (XP Home? XP Pro? Vista? 2000?), and if you're logged in as an administrator or not.

Dear I just want to share the solution. I managed to solve the problem with reading out from the rom. ecuflash driver was clashing with microsoft activesync.

Solution remove both ecuflash and activesync. Install ecuflash 1.29a again and then follow by activesync. After that you will have all the options to select with you click on read rom.

Cheers!

I found a solution...copy the read files to the rometadata/mitsubishi/evo directory. somehow we donot have a path set to rommetadata/read files directory. After you copy make sure to close ecuflash and open the program again to make it work correctly.

Put it in the same rommetadata directory where your rom image xmls are should work.
