Question on Non DBW and DBW reflashing

Postby s2p2 » Mon Mar 12, 2007 6:43 pm

Hey guys

Am driving a EDM MY04 FXT. I have already got everything to connect and am ready to start reflashing. But need to find out the following from you guys.

1) I choose "2004 Subaru DBW Models STi/FXT/LGT/Baja". Does it mean my car is DBW??

2) When reflashing a non DBW car, do we need the white jumper in when doing so?

3)When reflashing a DBW car, do we need the white jumper in when doing so?

Thanks

I would guess that 2004 DBW model is the correct selection for your car. If you really wanted to check, you could pop open your ECU and look at the biggest chip. Look for "7055" or "7058" written on it. It is probably the 7055. I think the 7058 wasn't used anywhere until 2005.

I don't believe there is any danger when reading. Worst case, reset the ECU.

2. Some do. Doesn't hurt to try both ways. I'd say most likely it does.

3. I don't think I've ever heard of and DBW model requiring the jumper. It is possible I guess. Again, doesn't hurt to try both ways.
