Hi THere!

Is there a utility for downloading the JECS ROM?

I'm working on one. I waiting for an ECU to arrive that someone is sending me.

Ok. I tried the utility and notice that the JDM ecu's weren't supported, at least the JECS.

Great work Cbole.

Question, can the Enginuity edited AVCS maps?

I noticed that the map it came w/ was a wrx map.

I cannot wait to get my rom off to resolve some issues in the 1500-2500 range.

Actually I posted my rom for my ver8 JDM STi with twinscroll and avcs.

All the avcs parameters are in that rom as well as the rom offsets for avcs are all listed similarly to the way I did it for the 2002/2003 wrx and 2004 wrx.

I hope someone adds it to their list of supported engine tuning software.

It would be nice to have a gui, I have been tuning using hex methods up to this point, but since there aren't very many out there I can't complain.

Is your ecu JECS?

Can you pm me or send me your link for the rom?

I am interested in how AVCS, timing and fuel changed between the versions of sti's.

Spiider, I am curious about something, advancing the AVCS more by .1 makes more power?

I notices that others on NASOIC aggressively tune the AVCS and more better spooling.

There is a guy on here using xml. Those features look really good.

Also, your rom came from AP or EcuTek?

Hey, no mine is not a JECS its a denso.

(2003/2004 MY JDM STi)

My rom was not tuned, I dumped it and tuned it myself for 91 octane.

I don't know what you mean by .1, are you talking about degrees of cam advance?

I can't imagine advancing cam or timing more agressively than they already are. The JDM STi already advances both a huge amount.

Maximum cam advance that I could see was 45 degrees, maximum timing advance was a hair over 45 degrees at redline with a light engine load!

Yes, really.

Ok. How were you able to analyse the AVCS?

I ask the question of advancing it, since tuners are stating that there are aggressively tuning it.

I am curious of JDM tuning over the USDM, especially timing and AVCS.

By default, whats are your max cam timing in both scales? Mind is -21 to 20

I did only test to 6K, but engine goes up to 7Krpm.

As far as I noticed, JDM head cams can run up to 45° advance, but any export (based on JDM STi7 single scroll specs) are clamped to 35° in datas...
I am not sure there is any mecanical difference/limitation, thought... but I would not go further than 35° on my car.

On the other hand, timing in JDM cars is far too much advanced for any other fuel available on the planet... except if you run 8:1 AFR fueling over same datas otherwise, obviously.
Talking about any timing value is a non sense if you don't relate it to a specific AFR, a specific fuel quality, a specific type of pistons, engine specs, turbo and I/C specs... etc...

Yes, thats what I got in and fixed. The timing needed to be pulled a few degrees in certain areas.

Now the car is super happy running a IAM of 16.

I never touched the cams though. The cam maps are 3d as well based on rpm and load. The area of most advance is under light loads at high rpm.

Is it like what above in the graph?

It had a similar curve but just a higher amplitude at its highest point.

Is the x-axis cross-points the same?

Spiider, having a high advance works better to your knowledge?

I wouldn't say that...its probably necessary due to the high redline at 8200rpm.

True. Cannot wait to look at some jdm avcs maps, including mine.

You can 3d map mine in excel if you want to see it.

The rom is in the twinscroll/rac section and the offsets are there too.
