Error straight after install 1.29a

Postby prana » Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:14 am

Hi, I hope this is the right section as I think I am beginning to narrow down the issue I'm having. I see a bug straight after installing the latest ecuflash 1.29a , re-downloaded and reinstalled, same error. It starts off with

[03:11:24.812] Version 1.29.906
[03:11:24.828] 8 memory models read.
[03:11:25.312] Unable to find parent metadata sti05base
[03:11:25.312] ROM metadata models A8DH200X.xml is invalid.

[03:11:25.312] 77 ROM metadata models read.
[03:11:25.312] checksum module "subarudbw" loaded.
[03:11:25.312] flashing tool "wrx02" loaded.
[03:11:25.312] flashing tool "wrx04" loaded.
[03:11:25.312] flashing tool "sti04" loaded.
[03:11:25.312] flashing tool "sti05" loaded.
[03:11:25.312] flashing tool "mitsukernel" loaded.
[03:11:25.312] flashing tool "mitsukernelocp" loaded.
[03:11:25.312] flashing tool "mitsubootloader" loaded.

On the Scoobypedia site, it clearly shows no errors similar to what I'm seeing. Furthermore, choosing the "read from ecu" creates a pop up window with a list of roms to read. Mine is completely empty, has nothing except a blank window.

Mine is a tactrix cable for non-DBW Subaru openport 1.3 driver on a Aus WRX 04 AJ420 chipset A4TH000O.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light if it just doesnt like my PC or there is a bug in the original install. Please ask any info I can provide help feedback to the community.

I renamed that file with a different extension. NO more errors on load but the read from ecu menu is still empty, so I am guessing it is required  yup I'm getting desperate

Looks like the sti05base got corrupted or is missing for some reason. Uninstall and download another copy of Ecuflash and reinstall.

yeah I did that as part of figuring out what went wrong. It is still no good, I have now 7 backup directories and 2 fresh downloads. Could it be a corrupted file was packaged in the latest download. The last one I downloaded was yesterday about 7pm (approx 21 Nov 5am NA EST)

Incidentally, the sti05base file is in a seperate directory. It is in the \subaru\sti directory ... do I need to make a copy in the \subaru\wrx directory ? my metadata is pointing to the wrx directory, not sti directory.

No, it doesn't need to be in the same directory. I would uninstall all copies of Ecuflash, delete all shortcuts, delete the Ecuflash download file. Then redownload Ecuflash and install. I just downloaded and tried an install and it still works fine.

merchgod - thank you. Here is what I did

I have reinstalled and downloaded again so many times, but all on the same device. So what I did this time, was use a different laptop and installed the software on that instead - It works no problems on start up. So I am thinking there is a problem with compatibility between the software and the laptop I use for reading the ECU.

So when I get home (in about 8 hours hours) I will transfer all the files across and see if it resolves it. If not, I'll try and debug it and get back to you about what went wrong (if I know).

Cheers

will report back if I find something

update, this is going to sound really bizarre. I deleted everything, reinstalled yet again  must have been the 20th time now, and have been comparing the differences between this and the other machine that works immediately.

Would you believe it, the only difference (which incidentally seems to be working fine now) was the path for Metadata Directory on the working machine was

C:/Program Files/OpenECU/EcuFlash/rommetadata

whereas the machine that didnt work had it as

C:/Program Files/OpenECU/EcuFlash/rommetadata/subaru/wrx

Weird I know, now the error on load is no longer there. I gotta see if the application can detect my ecu, but at least one problem is resolved. Hopefully, this will help someone one day ...

anyhow moving on. I now have a list of ecus to choose from, from my menu. I chose wrx 03-04 with no luck, then wrx 01-02.

[00:29:16.953] ssm2_init
[00:29:17.125] ECU ID is 3A 54 58 40 05 <-- wrx 03-04
[00:29:17.125] ssm2_cmd_0x81
[00:29:32.921] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start <-- wrx01-02
[00:29:34.156] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start
[00:29:35.390] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start
[00:29:36.593] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start
[00:29:37.828] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start

on kernel get version, a pop up window shows
"An error occured, see logs for details"

hehe one step and a time :) Hopefully I can figure this one out soon lol. time to do some searches

GOT IT! make sure you connect the white block as well to read from the non dbw wrx's :) lol when connected, the fans and pumps stop cycling and you can read from ecu., I will post an image up for download :) YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIPPEEE
