ECUFlash and CarDAQ

Postby EFI-Unlimited » Sat Nov 01, 2008 11:53 pm

Hey, now that the new Openport 2.0 cable is J2534 compatible, can I use ECUFlash with my CarDAQ Plus (and MIT47295 adapter)?

If so, how? It appears ECUFlash is waiting to detect the Tatrix hardware before ungraying the ROM read button.

EcuFlash might be designed so that it only works with Tactrix hardware. There might be undocumented interfaces, in addition to the J2534, which EcuFlash uses to communicate with the Tactrix hardware. You might try deleting the Tactrix J2534 registry entry and see whether EcuFlash will go ahead and use the CarDAQ Plus J2534 API.

If you have a Subaru, you might also wish to try the RomRaider logger (see http://www.romraider.com/forum/topic3841.html) and Learning View (see http://www.romraider.com/forum/topic2772.html) with your CarDAQ.

I have the feeling that ECUFlash is intended to only work with the Tactrix hardware. The software being 'free' may only be to encourage sales of the hardware. Not that I disagree with that, if I was in Colby's position, I would probably do the same.

I was just hopeful that with 2534 compatibility, it would open the door to other hardware platforms, such as the CarDAQ.
