difference between OpenPort1.0G and OpenPort1.0W tactrix cab

Postby not8player » Sat Sep 03, 2005 3:21 pm

What is difference between OpenPort1.0G and OpenPort1.0W tactrix cable? What make one generic and one specific to the WRX. I have search the forum and haven’t been able to find information that clear answer my question.

I have a 2005 RS and would like to get a cable to play, which one do you guys think will work and would get me started? I am a programmer at heart and interested into diving into code and not having to deal with hardware interfaces.

The difference is only one extra pin used for programming.
If you want to be able to reprogram your car then you need the wrx one.

The wrx one will do you for both purposes. The generic one is the same less the reflashing "pin".

If you are not reflashing then the wrx/generic option doesn't matter. If you are reflashing then you need the wrx one.

Not even sure what the generic cable's for. Earlier I assumed it was for doing OBDII on compliant cars, but so far I haven't been able to get an OBDII software talking to my Legacy with the cable, :).
