Help requested for 2005 Australian RHD Impreza 2.5 RS 4EAT

Hi all,

Just got my new OP2 and tried interfacing with the green test mode connectors connected. Car entered test mode with flashing CEL and cycling radiator fans.

Please help in getting this to work on my non turbo Impreza.

I am sure that I am not missing any steps. I was unable to find the 2nd set of connectors on the passenger side. Picture of the jumper block also attached along with ECU cover label and the log file.

Thanks.

Non-turbo Impreza? Check if the ECU is JECS or Denso. Only Denso ECUs are supported with ECUFlash.

Hi radsdau,

I am running a supercharger and there is a Moristech Prosequential piggyback ECU in the midst. I have tried by completely disconnecting the piggyback as well.

How do I identify which ECU it is based on... any tips??

Thanks.

This is JECS\Hitachi ecu for probably EJ254 engine.
If there is JECS WA12212940\12212970 processor inside this ecu is currently not supported.

Hi Sasha_A80,

It is an EJ251 4V SOHC, no variable timing or lift.

I haven't opened up the ECU yet, and may do so if there is no other way to identify it??

Thanks.

JECS ecu for EJ251 is usually based on 12212920/12212930 chip that is prone to fail during reflash.
More recent Hitachi ecu is based on 12212970 that may be reflashed in a safe manner.
But. There was no motivation for this development.

Probably you are to contact mmcflash developers.

Thanks Sasha_80,

......Its WA12212920WWW as per attached.

So ...is there anything we can do?? You have been been very helpful.

Any recommendations for a flashable, compatible replacement ECU? Any other known methods of flashing this?

Thanks.

It is strange to see JECS MY99/00 ecu inside the car referred to as MY05 Australian.
Try to get ECUID by LearningView for example. Probably I may provide an appropriate ROM image.

I would not recommend to try to reflash this ecu if you do not have a couple of spare ones.
From the other hand there is Arabic MY04/MY07 (??) ecu for EJ202 (that is almost identical to EJ201) that is based on 12212970.
The last may be reflashed safely.
But. There is immo and a number of checksums inside the code.

European\Japan EJ202/EJ152 ecu's are completely another animals and are based on Reneasa SuperH.

Thanks Sasha_A80

I do not have any spares. I have no idea why it would have this old an ECU in it. Car is built April/05.

LearningView ECU ID same as ECUFlash ECU ID- 3D52103005

Where to get these different ECUs from? any recommendations? I am guessing you are suggesting that these are not fully compatible. As long as ABS, cruise and climate control and auto tranny work- it will be fine by me.

Thanks.

Because Learning View says

'ECU ID of 3D52103005 not found. Your ECU is not currently supported.'

Maybe that means ECU ID is actually unknown?? I don't know then what 3D52103005 means.

It is really updated ROM image. MY99/00 ECUID started with 0D, 1D.
But PCB and processor chip is obsolete.

This ecu hardware does not support CANbus thus ABS should be linked to auto tranny, that in turn "speeks" to this engine ecu.
It gives a chance to find European\USA setup with more recent engine ecu coupled with the same TCU. This is just my opinion.
This gives a chance to reflash 12212970 based ecu.

Many thanks Sasha_A80

so... any recommendations for further actions?? How do I find 970 based ECU which works with my car?? The TCU is a little harder to get to under the steering column.
