I have a 2005 Baja Turbo that I am trying to get EcuFlash to read from but it doesn't seem to recognize the ecu.

My system:

Gateway FX 6860 (C2D Xtreme 3ghz)
4GB Ram
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit /w SP1
Tactrix OpenPort 2.0
EcuFlash 1.42.2595 /w latest definitions

This is the output I get from EcuFlash:

[22:19:29.543] J2534 API Version: 04.04
[22:19:29.543] J2534 DLL Version: 0.50.2598 Jun 26 2009 15:02:29
[22:19:29.543] Device Firmware Version: 1.10.3020
[22:19:31.188] kernel get version
[22:19:31.562] SSM2 init
[22:19:31.702] SSM2 ECU ID is 3F 12 40 41 06
[22:19:31.796] Requesting Seed...
[22:19:31.843] Sending Key...
[22:19:32.467] interface close
[22:19:32.482] interface close

EcuFlash shows on the bottom right Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 cable on Com 23.

At first I thought it was the drivers for the cable so I completely uninstalled any serial drivers I might have.. rebooted and reinstalled and the cable is instantly recognized and drivers installed. EcuFlash shows it's connected and i can see the lights flashing when it's trying to connect to my ecu but it seems like it doesn't recognize it.. *scratching head*

The weird thing is if I try and do this with the car running instead of just the key in the on position the car will shut off and throw up a CEL...

I am pulling my hair out.. any idea's what I may be doing wrong? I dont have access to another laptop otherwise i'd try that.... Anyone in the Bremerton/Silverdale area?

It's reading the ECU ID- the cable installation is fine.
Based on that ID the hookup method you should use is STi05.
If it still gets to the same point and fails in the same way, then it appears the ECU is locked, probably Ecutek or Cobb. You'll need to get it unlocked or reset before you can read and tune etc.

Today I tried using the 05 STI selection to connect to the ECU and it gives the exact same error... So I tried just about every single listing with no luck on any of them. So I am going to look for a tuner locally to see if they can unlock this ecu.

I don't know how this ecu could be locked. I am the second owner and it was purchased in 07 from a dealership in Portland. The car has been bone stock until very recently.

Thanks again for the help!
