Tuning without the Tactrix Openport 2.0 on Evo 10

Postby chetrickerman » Sun Feb 20, 2011 3:40 pm

Can I use ECUFlash, OpenECU, or EvoScan with an off-brand OBD2 to USB cable to tune or datalog on the Evo 10?

Like this cable: http://www.ankaka.com/galletto-1260-obd ... 7ek16eshk1
or this cable: http://www.ankaka.com/elm-327-car-diagn ... _p525.html

Or do I HAVE to have the Openport 2.0 cable?

thanks.

Logging is probably ok with those cables, but ECUFlash only works (for reflashing) with OpenPort cables AFAIK.
Correct me if I'm wrong people.

I have been wondering the same thing for a while now. I have a CarDAQ Plus, and it would be awesome if I could use it with ECUFlash.

I wish someone 'In the know' would chime in here, and give a definite answer if this is or will be possible.

Those cables probably have the hardware to support the reflashing. One of the problems is that the security algorithms used by ECUFlash are embedded in the OP2 cables, so ECUFlash won't be able to gain security access with the other cables, even if they are J2534 compatible.
