Subaru SH BOOT Mode Adapter Questions

Postby absubtle » Tue Jul 07, 2009 6:47 am

We have been working on getting this bench adapter to recover Subaru DBW ECU's. This is for our personal use, and by no means trying to make moeny off of this.
I think we have a pretty good understanding what is needed, and we have almost everything to start building.
I do have a couple questions though. Where I am supposed to be getting the VCC 5 volt reference from? Am I suppose to make a 5 volt source, use a step-down resistor? I see that VCC is needed a lot to make this adapter run correctly...
I would also like to hear from anyone that has successfully pulled this off....meaning making their own and being able to force SH BOOT MODE.
Any info would help out tremedously, I personally have a couple ECU's sitting here, making great paper weights, I would like to be able to continue testing different things on these ECU's and not have to worry about bricking them.
Thanks,

Try applying 12V to the ECU via the input pins, and extracting 5V off a rail on the PCB somewhere.
