OpenPort 2.0 reviews

Postby ravenhil » Fri Oct 10, 2008 6:08 am

hey guys, i just wanna know what you guys have done with this cable.

I have tried to datalog using Romraider v0.5.0 but it was not successful.

I have tried to read and write using EcuFlash v1.38 on a MY03 EDM WRX (Manual) but both methods were not successful. ECU is intact though.

I have tried to read using EcuFlash v1.38 on a MY07 EDM FXT (Auto) and it works. HOWEVER, the ECU was bricked when I attempted a write. Haven't tried the EcuFlash v1.39 though.

I am considering buying another OpenPort 1.3 to replace the one that I have which, for some peculiar reason, can datalog with Romraider but cannot read nor write with EcuFlash v1.35 and Ecuflash v1.38. So if OpenPort 2.0 is dedicated to Canbus ECUs only, I know I gotta buy another OpenPort 1.3.

Okay, bad news. Tactrix don't sell OpenPort 1.3 version anymore. Guess I'll be looking for second hand ones.

A. Ecuflash 1.39, just released, fixes all the issue with flashing.
B. Support for the OP 2.0 has to be added to any existing logging software - it is not backward compatible. RomRaider has a test release with support for the OP 2.0. Check out the development forum at the RomRaider site (currently version RC4).

Issues with reading/flashing older non-CANbus ECUs are likely due to have multiple driver installs. Follow the steps in the RomRaider FAQ in the Ecuflash troubleshooting section to remove all old drivers and old versions of Ecuflash and properly install the new drivers.

I have been patiently waiting for logging with the OP2. Is this something we are waiting for from third party programers? ie evoscan?

For that matter even the ability to use the innovate logger and what was known as OP1.3 .

Is there any light in the tunnel on this?

I don't know if you are talking Subaru or Mitsubishi, but if Subaru, like I said, RomRaider already has a test release for the logging with the OP 2.0. Works great - I've used it myself.

Yeah I've been watching the subie forums hoping to get an idea about logging on the op2.

It looks like the really big audience is in the evo crowd. The silence is disturbing.

yes usdm evos.
are other countries evo using op2 for logging? I think you can flash with op2, at least on the older evos.

Is there anything that is OP2.0 compatible that I can check codes with? I can't connect to the car with romraider or scan xl!

I got it to read the rom file using the ecuflash so I know the cable and port work.

Using windows vista, never had a problem when I was using the 1.3 cable.

Frustrated.

The software at http://www.tunertools.com/Edge-Analysis-Data-Pro.asp should be able to read codes using the OP 2.0.

I tried using that one but it says com1 does not exist. Unable to communicate with device. Please check com port number or baud rate setting.
