Could not get access to the ECU on LGT JDM =\

Postby in1t » Thu Jul 24, 2008 4:51 pm

Trying to get access to the ECU using Tactrix OpenPort and EcuFlash, connecting two green jumpers (http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/Knowledge/ConnectingToYourECU#toc4) on the passenger side. The "Test engine" mode should start and I should get a flashing CEL, but I don't. After this the car is working in normal mode, but as I know in “test engine” mode the car should not start at all. CE lamp is working OK, when I start the engine it’s ON, then it’s goes off, like it should be..

In RomRaider I can check “Test Mode Connector” switch, and it’s off. All other switches work OK.

Anyway, connecting Tactrix OpenPort to my laptop, start EcuFlash, select LGT ’05 template, switch ignition key to “ON” position and press connect. It’s trying to connect, but gets an error (see screenshot).

So, I can't use EcuFlash to read my ECU rom =\

Does anyone know what can it be? Maybe I should connect anything else? Or may be it's something else, for ex. in car alarm system or immobilizer?

P.S. I tried this (http://www.autodata.ru/news.osg?idr=2&idt=14&idn=986) method too (connect the white connectors), but no luck.

Thanks!

I almost guarantee there'll be a second set of test mode connectors around. They're green too. Look behind the ECU cover panel in the passenger footwell, and also behind the kick panel on the drivers side. The SSM protocol is accurate AFAIK in displaying the state of the TMC.

The reflash connectors are green and located behind carpet of passenger side footwell.

If you've connected it correctly, when ignition is moved to ON, the water temp will shoot to max.

Hope this helps.

This isn't a CANBUS car. Irrelevant.

Many of the JDM cars have an extra set of test mode connectors. Someone already posted this.

It's no surprise ECUflash does not work if you cannot get the test mode connector to read in the logger. It must be connected! You'll have to dig to find the test mode connectors.

Try feeling for it.

Run your fingers along the back of the carpet (area where carpet reaches dashboard), and you'll likely feel the 2 green connectors somewhere in the middle. Pull it over to the front, then you'll be able to see.

Both connectors are bright green connected to single wire. Just connect them to enter into test mode.

Hope this helps.

Problem is solved!! There are additional green test mode connectors on LGT JDM, it's located behind kick panel on the driver side, right from the accelerator pedal. After connection those and two on the passenger side the test mode goes ON! I have read my ECU rom using WRX STI 04 method. Thanks all for the help!

That is where the extra set is on Left Hand Drive models only it's behind the PASSENGER kick panel. The Right side of the vehicle. All the subarus i've seen have 2 connectors wired in series.
