Just an idea: openmoko might be a good base for mobile tunin

If you are into linux, you might know that openmoko finally released (ie is currently selling/shipping) its Freerunner (2nd generation) open-sourced phone, which features USB ports (unfortunately just usb1 but host, ie providing power out), VGA touch-screen, wifi, GPS chip, and running linux. Since I saw no post mentioning openmoko I thought to mention it here, since someone might get interested to port any available open source application to be ran on freerunner.

RomRaider looks like a cool alternative but I am not sure on the status of java on freerunner and romraider might be too bulky as a whole but may be stripped version (e.g. logger) could be brought into usable state. imho that would be quite nice... additional plugin to RomRaider also could be to read altitude information from GPS and log it within RomRaider.

I am not sure what other (if any) open-source project could serve as a nice base for a mobile app for FR.

Additional read-out could be accelerometers present in freerunner (damn... I just now realized that it might help me to diagnoze weird vibration I have! yeay!) -- not sure how sensitive it might be but might be worth looking into.

Additional information about freerunner could be obtained from

and
commercial site (with a store) of the company which made it possible
