EcuTek ODBII Cable won't work

Postby TedS » Sat Feb 25, 2006 11:56 am

Here's my log result with an EcuTek ODBII interface cable:
[0.000] kernel flash disable
[2.023] rkrv: preamble 2 no response
[0.301] denso_cmd_0x81
[0.050] denso_cmd_0x83
[0.060] denso challenge-response
[0.120] denso_cmd_0x10
[0.120] 1452 byte kernel read.
[0.000] kernel checksum is valid (n = 2).
[0.201] validating denso kernel ram area addr: 020000 len: 05AC
[2.052] validating denso kernel ram area addr: 020000 len: 05AC
[2.083] writing denso kernel area addr: 020000 len: 05AC
[0.201] writing denso flash block addr: 020000 len: 0080
[2.503] validating denso kernel ram area addr: 020000 len: 0008
[2.254] entering kernel
[1.321] kernel get version
[2.033] unable to load kernel

It starts to work, but near the end the ignition dies and then the software pops up an error box.

So I'm thinking I need a second cable for EcuFlash on my 04 USDM WRX.

Deltadash cable doesn't have the +12v supply circuitry for reflashing. Just the k-line etc.

What Spiider says is true, but in addition, you are using a serial port based cable that is limited by your computer's serial port and won't be able to do the unusual baud rates needs to read/reflash the ECU.

I looked at the $80 US Tactrix cable.. There's only one however and I read that we should be shopping for the "WRX" version?

That is old information. There is only one "universal" cable now that works for all Subarus.

Hi Colby
Do you plan the production of a new can-bus cable or not?

Thanks

Yes, I am planning on building a CAN cable, but it will be a while yet before I will make it or have supporting software.
