Problems logging

Postby eskram » Fri Feb 23, 2007 6:57 am

I just picked up a new laptop this week. It has Vista Home Premium, which I'm not sure is the problem or not.

I picked up two serial-to-usb adapters from amazon.com. Vista picked the adapters up and installed them automatically.

Using any of the free loggers (ecuedit, ecuexplorer, enginuity), I am able to connect to my ecu and my wideband without any issues. However after a while (10 minutes or so), or sometimes randomly, it seems like the port is locking up or timing out. The programs stop responding and are stuck on the last value they received. A reboot is required to get things working again.

Initially, the adapters were being picked up as COM5 and COM6. I changed them to COM1 and COM2 in case there was some issue with the higher port number. I've also disabled the buffering on both ports. They are both set to 9600, 8, N, 1, no flow control. I've seached for recommended serial port settings but can't seem to find them.

Any other things to try, or something I'm missing?
