interface

Postby Nemis » Thu Jan 06, 2005 8:24 am

i have read about Pc- Subby ecu interface:
It is simple K-line adaptor for ISO 9141-1 protocol.
It is of max232 and mc33199 and a couple of capasitors.
Nothing more.

so in subyecu.html i have read:
The subaru select monitor protocol uses an ISO9141 interface and uses UART settings: 4800 bps n, 8, 1 all data is sent and recieved using small packets that all share a common header.

now i think that a simple k-line interface will work :D
i will do this http://www.planetfall.com/~jeff/obdii/ and try

bye

jeff face is a good device in the item of optoisolating all signals incl. sys ground
but the leveling point leaves much to be desired.

U better use the scheme that I've send you by email
I can put it at my site
www.obd.n1.by (it is our permanent address on the payment basis that contain link to the free-servers where we put all our info about Carsoft BMW, Mersedes, Uniscan 1.83 and others "copy-lefted" materials :)

The max232 and motorola scheme are proven K-line with no leveling questions. We use if for subaru and other iso-9141-x cars.

But is is only K-line.
L-line does not work there.
For real trensmitted L u need modification as for double K line (for some VAG models)

Has anybody tried a Neo-SPI box on the Subarus yet? I've been able to communicate across Honda K-line and UART buses pretty easily with these tools before. They are pretty pricey (about $2K) but well worth the $$$ for developement.

...also, someone might have laying around the office somehwere. :D

Imp Guerra,

that site is very interesting.. (at least the parts i can read in english)

I don't know where i can get the hardware I need to interface with the ECU.

You seem to know of something better to use then the "Jeff Interface" Do you know where I can buy a working interface cable or where i can get parts/schematics to make one in the US?

thanks!

I just put together Andy Whittaker's OBD-II ISO9141 interface. Now I just need some sofware to test it with. I dont have a native linux OS on this laptop so im going to find out how VMware's serial support is and try the freediag stuff... if that doesnt work, i will try to build it in knoppix or something.

Imp Guerra: Whats the deal with the XiDash software? It says its free on your site. Looks pretty much like exactly what we are doing?!? As a first step of course minus reflashing which is what we are really after.

if it is indeed free thats great! where can we get it?
