ECU on bench

Postby Jez » Wed Nov 09, 2005 4:27 pm

I should be getting my open port interface shortly and wondered if people have got an ECU up and running on their bench?

If so - could anyone tell me which pins are the correct ones to connect up for the USB/OBDII interface?

I've had a search around and can't find any pinouts for my ECU (UK Impreza P1)

Any help gratefully received :)

I too would also be able to know the specifics in regards to which pins etc.

I have ample access to AUS ecu's and would like to get as many images as i can to help the project along.

Trying to get it work this afternoon but it won't so far.
I am testing with a 2002 EDM ecu, i can communicate with a OBD2 tester but can't read the flash.
So the ecu is working on the bench.
I am a little confused with the wiring for the "flash connector" there are 4 wire's wich has to be jumped and they come from the ecu to the DLC connector but from there?
Can anybody help?

Peewee, I'm not sure if the wires are the same at the ECU harness and if your ECU is the same, but in this picture you can see the ones that need to be jumped.

Hi,
Thanks for the info.
I have the ECU on the bench not on the car.
2 wires from the white connector are coming from the ecu the other 2 are going to the OBD connector. Must i connect them with the L line or with the Flash voltage regulator?
So far i have the test connector (Pin A5) connected to ground.
SSM K-line (pin A21) to Pen 7 OBD-K-line.
The ecu is going in test mode the CEl is flashing.
It is a little confusing because Subaru mirror's the OBD connector numbers in there schematic's.
I have build the openport interface (i have tested the interface with vagcom software and is working) but i keep getting preamble 1 error while reading the ecu.
Greetings Paul

Hi,
A14 must be connected to gnd, A5 to 12v.
The ceL via a little lamp (max 1w) to 12v.
Furhter it should be working.

I have tried the new corrected pinouts and still no luck.

The ecu draws at 14.4V about 0.35A, i might just chuck the ecu back into the car this weekend to see if its the ECU or something else.

I have some logs from port mon which i will post in the morning.

350mA looks good, not to much.
Did you use a bulb for the Cel, if so was it flashing or constant on?

With only the test pin connected the CEL should be flashing.

Hi
I have an ECU on the bench and am having trouble getting anything out of the ECU.
The CEL is flashing.
Read from ECU returns the following then I get an error popup.

[03:47:14.671] ssm2_init
[03:47:14.843] ECU ID is 1B 14 40 05 05
[03:47:14.843] ssm2_cmd_0x81

What am I doing worng?
