cat5 interface cable?

Postby scooby_x » Thu Sep 22, 2005 7:10 pm

would it be possible to use a cable that has an obd2 end and a cat5 end? My uncle's universal scanner tool has this cable, and i wanted to save myself having to buy a cable...would this work for TARI?

Don't know a lot about electronics, but I think what you mean is that it has a J1962 connector on one end and an RJ-45 connector on the other. Category-5, as far as I know, refers to the cable used in ethernet connections. I'm guessing if it's just a straight-through cable, then the voltage levels will be all wrong for connecting to a PC. Don't even think of connecting it to an 802.11 port.

Or did I misunderstand you?
