USM2 compatible?

Postby bluescoobywagon » Mon Sep 25, 2006 10:42 am

I was wondering if it's possible to use the part here http://www.pic-tools.com/usb_mod_ums2.htm to modify my existing ODB-2 cable. This appears to mirror most of the openport 1.2 schematic and would only require the voltage comparator, 12v regulator, a few transistors and a few resistors and capacitors. It would be easier to solder seeing as most of the little bits are pre-done and everything else could be DIP and TO-92. Plus I have most of the parts laying around. Thoughts?

After pricing out all the parts, I decided it wasn't worth it to save $35 by going through all the hassle for something that would work, but would take hours and hours of my time. Instead, I just ordered the cable from Tactrix. I'll keep my old OBD-2 cable and software in case I need them for other vehicles.
