hey guys... i want to play... ive read a few threads on this board... but im having a hard time getting to the nitty-gritty.

-What hardware should I be using/building to interface with my ECU?

i can reverse engineer/debug/code/write exploits/ so some of those skills should translate ... i want to jump in feet first.. but dont know where to start.

Hey all. Do any of you know how the Denso part numbers are picked? Your processor on the first page turned out to be a motorola variant, and the processor in the 94-95 miatas has a similar part number (first 4 numbers the same):

D151804-0990

Do you think this is also motorola??

heres a pic:

You should be able to do a couple things to figure out that Miata ECU.

1. Look at what pins on the CPU are connected to power / ground / the crystal along with pin count and package style to figure out what CPU it is by comparing with available datasheets

2. Remove the EPROM and read it out with a PROM programmer to look at the code. You can also identify the CPU from the opcodes. There may also be ROM/FLASH inside the CPU, depends on the part.

Most likely it is HD6301 + 27C256 in that ECU.

Regarding this URL posted earlier in the thread,
http://www.brendan-stewart.com/other/subaruecu.htm ,
does anybody have the info from that page saved off anywhere? The domain is gone.

I've already looked at archive.org, but the page must have been newer than the snapshot there.

I'm curious what info was posted there.

Thank you, interesting stuff.

I searched but it's hard to enter good search words when you don't exactly know what the content is.

If you are talking to me, it looks a LOT like the motorola 68HC11K:

page 32 of
http://www.freescale.com/files/microcon ... 8HC11K.pdf

its 84 pin, starts the pin count from the middle of one side. The address lines look like they go to the eprom, and there is ground pad near the ground pin. I dont have one of these in my possession so I cant say for sure, otherwise I would dump the eprom and (try to) dasm it.

Does the HD6301 come in an 84 pin variant? I couldnt find one...

Hi,

I am still looking information about Denso ECU for mazda 323F (BJ) with diesel engine DITD.
The main chip is 151808-3663 (Denso) 120pins, XTAL 92,93 see picture:
Desno_151808-3663_uC (Medium).jpg
Denso 151808-3663

and in addition smaller chip but I do not know the purpose of it Desno , ESPD SE390 see picture

ESPD SE390
denso_ESPD_se390 (Medium).jpg (100.37 KiB) Viewed 20377 times
do you know any information?

In addition you can see the whole ECU:
MAZDA_RF4S_ECU.jpg
MAZDA ECU RF4S for DITD

Added 3.1.2009
The main chip looks like Fujitsu F2MC-16LX 16-bits microcontroller, seria MB90570, 120pins.
Do you know how to directly connect to fujitsu processor, which softwer is good to use?

Best regards
M.
