Support for Legacy / B4 Twin Turbo 2001 - 2003

Postby Zepp » Thu Aug 11, 2005 4:25 am

Hi, Its great to see all these people getting together for a common goal!

I'm interested to know how many members (if any) have been able to interface to the Legacy / B4 Twin Turbo 2001-2003 (or Liberty, as its called in Australia).

Im particularly interested in the hardware (cable type) that I will need and if it would be basically the same as interfacing with a WRX of the same year. Im pretty sure it an OBD-II style port sitting under my steering wheel.

I'm hoping that any feedback or help to get me started would lead me to be an active contributor to this project.

I might have posted this question in the wrong area. Sorry about that.

Well, I have an '05 Legacy GT and my OpenPort 1.0 cable shipped today. Chances are we've the same ECU and interface. I'll let you know if I can get mine to work.

It will work in the 05 LGT in the US. I sat in a car belonging to a user on this board, and watched it run the TARi software.

May I know which cable was used? 1.0W or 1.0G?

The WRX version will work. Reflashing is possible in the future.

Is it also safe/effective to dump the image with ecuflash.exe on a MY05 Legacy GT?

Thanks,
Adrian

Let me know if and when you do. I don't have access to a Windows box, but I'd love to get at the ECU code on our Leggies.

This won't work until I have support for the drive by wire (DBW) ECUs. I hope to get that done by the end of the year.

The only side effect of reading out your ECU is that you will erase the learned ECU data in RAM (equivalent to a ECU reset). So it may take a few miles for your car to be running optimally again.

I've finally had time to to test the open port 1.2 cable and ecuexplorer on the B4 and Im happy to report that it works!

I only had time to view some real time data so hopefully in the next few days I'll try an ecu rom dump. fingers crossed :D

I have a 2001 Liberty B4 Twin Turbo (AUS) and i have ecuexplorer working for reading and adjusting trims (ignition idle).

I could read an image with ecuflash and have not yet figured out how to get the maps readable in ecuflash, but im working on it. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.
