Newb just starting+unnable to read downloded files

Hi.Ive downloaded ecuflash and explorer and have downloaded some of the files that people have posted of their ecu data, but i cant seem to view any of the data-is there anything else that i need to view them,or am i being a complete ar#e???
Ive allready been searching for info but as of now im still stuck :oops:

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Gary,

All you need to do is create the xml file.

you need xmlwrite to do so.

once you have a rom, let's say: A4SGA00C.hex

copy it into the xmlwrite directory

start xmlwrite and put in the call id A4SGA00C

tell it for which program you want the xml file and it'll create it

copy the file (xml) into the definition directory of the application and you should now be able to read your map

...or you could just use enginuity from enginuity.org. It already has most of the ecu definitions built in.

Thanks, thats been a great help- After much headscratching ive eventually got Enginuity up and running (i didnt reallise that i needed java to run it :oops: ) ,just got to get me a a usb cable to connect up now- i feel this is when the real head scratching starts-but hey, we've all got to start somewhere :D
