Subaru AJ880 ECU

Postby Blindstuff » Thu May 25, 2006 4:14 pm

Hi, i live in ccs venezuela and own a 05 WRX.
Heres the thing, most of the cars here are imported from japan but are LHD, so usually we have a little of every domestic market.

I just wanted to know if anyone had any idea what DM the AJ880 ECU is from, im trying to see if my ECU is compatible with the Cobb Accessport and if its not, what other flash options i have available.

Thanx for helping a noob

You can be pretty sure that EcuFlash and a Tactrix OpenPort cable will be able to read out and reflash this ECU. What we don't know at this point is where all of your maps are located in memory. Once we know that, the ROM should be fully tunable in EcuFlash or other editing programs.

You should ask Cobb directly about Cobb AP compatibility to make sure you get the right answer.

Got the same response in a couple of forums, im just going to get a tactrix cable and check the images on the ROM to compare them with USDM images to see if there are any similarities, or if they match at all.

Cobbs costumer service sucks, when I asked them they answered "You should know where your car is from".

Unless Cobb specifically supports your ECU / ROM revision, I would be very hesitant to use their product for your application. The AP will basically be reflashing your ECU with a different ROM revision that may not correctly support the PCB and wiring configuration of your car. It might be OK, but I wouldn't count on it. If the ECU is sufficiently unhappy with the reflash, you might not be able to flash it again over the OBDII port and be stranded. Not likely, but possible.

Is there a good stage II map available to flash through openecu tools? I really wouldnt like to custom tune, and if i have to i would like to very little.
