Can openport 2.0 be tested

Postby comrade904 » Thu May 24, 2012 5:40 pm

I'd like to know if there is a way to test the openport 2.0 usb to pc connection with connecting to a car. I AM trying to use it on non-supported (read not Mitsubishi or Subaru) via J2534. I would first like to make sure my Openport is connected to the computer and setup properly.

PCMScan J2534 scan program has the same error the Openport is connected or disconnected (As in Openport is completely disconnected and in my pocket).

The following lines are the same no matter how the openport is hooked up.

[20:13:55.976] Found SAE-J2534-1 device: Tactrix Inc. - OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAN/VPW/PWM
[20:13:55.976] Connecting using J2534 device: OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAN/VPW/PWM
[20:13:55.978] Open failed!
[20:13:55.978] Error code: 8
[20:13:55.978] Description: Unable to communicate with the device.
[20:13:55.978] Failed to open OBD-II connection! Error 101: Interface communication failure.

Again I am not asking for support on non-MIT non-SUB cars. I just want a way to check the pc to Openport connection/setup preferably without a car.

With mine plugged in, Windows 7 Device Manager shows it as a Vehicle PassThru Interface, see screenshot below.
