Problem flashing Evo 6, help!

Postby BhpTuner » Sun Dec 20, 2009 3:12 am

Hi all, had a problem flashing a mod to an Evo 6, using ecuflash the test write is ok but when I actually write to ecu I get an error, attached below, I can write the original back no problem.
Anybody have any ideas or advice?

Chris

its prob 7203f processor it cant be flashed at the moment but 7202f can , take the cover of the ecu and look at the processor number. what 6 is it in 7203 usually found in 6 makinen. 6 gsr ecu mr320403 are 7202f and can be flashed , all evo 5 ecu (md356472/md360216) are aswell

Ok thanks for that, I will check.
Strange that the original will write back, or is it because there are no changes to make so it actually isn't writing anything, just need to get my head round it??

What would be the correct solution now, a newer ecu, maybe from a 7, would it be just plug and go?

Thanks

Yes, in fact, if you try to write the modified firmware, the kernel will fall into error when you try to erase the sector, which found the changes. But at the same operation will be thrown out, on this block since you can not sew on the old one.

I cannot tell from the log, but are you using an OP 2.0 cable? The flash will not work without a OP 2.0 cable. Also, if I remember correctly the H8/539F memory model is for the MH7203 processor and the H8/539 memory model is for the MH7202 processor. I suggest checking the number on the processor board first.

you can use evo5/6 with 7202 processor or 7 ecu with a few wire swaps easy enough to do.

Thanks for all the replies, there is light at the end of the tunnel now.
Yes I have OP2.0, looks like I selected the wrong car when reading, should've selected MH7203F, will have to wait til I get car back and try again
