problems with entering read and write mode with 2.0

The problem in a nutshell is inconsistancy getting the ecu into the read and write mode. I have a thread on romraider and this appears to be a problem a few other people are having too.


Here are back to back attemps to read. the first not working the next working perfectly.

Here is a better explination of what my problem is~

I have read and flashed with the 1.3 cable I had hundreds of times. I have read and flashed with the 2.0 maybe a dozen times. It seems like it is a 1 out of 10 sucess rate with the 2.0 whereas it was 10 for 10 with the old cable. ( Unless I made a mistake)

I am currently using ecu flash 1.41 and the standard defs .8.2b.

What is not working quite right is that it will not enter write mode. if I key the car up at the same rate as the old cable it will not enter write mode it enters test mode. (cycling fans) Ecu flash gives the standard cannot flash message (see above ecuflash log, ie. when the plugs are not connected, no flash block etc.)

operatiing system is xp, the computer is an asus eee pc.

I am currently experiencing success every other time. I recently even completed an entire tune (10ish flashes and one read) without any hiccups on an 04 WRX. I then tried on my car 02 wrx , switch wired for the "test mode connectors" and perminant flash jumper. I got the above log from that failure/success
