TCM Support

Postby g00fy » Tue Sep 02, 2008 5:20 am

I've been goin nuts lately trying to find any information i can about TCM flashing or any kind of TCM information. All I know is the TCM is flashed through the OBD-II port with Subaru's firmware update software and w/e cable it supports.

Also my search has brought me back here to OpenECU because the developers of ECUflash are probably the only ones that can help on this issue. Mostly people have been telling me the TCM has been over-looked for lack of demand, but there is still a demand, and it is growing especially now that subaru has limited the popular FXT to automatic only for the 2009MY. The Subaru TCM is programmed so terrible it's discusting, also as subaru makes the trannys more TCM dependant, old style hardware mods are becoming less and less useful since the TCM just compensates for the change, if we had TCM flash support and the ability to modify shift-points, TC lock-up, and line pressure there would be alot more insane automatics driving around out there.

What can those of us in the 4/5eat community do to get some attention for our TCMs? If donations were needed to purchase new hardware or something to make the process possible i'm sure that wouldn't be an issue.

I agree -- I really wish we could get to tuning the TCM -- I could only imagine what it could be like being able to control how this car shifts.

Is reprograming the TCM really that much harder/different than the ECU?

It's probably no different, but since not enough people in the 4/5eat community want it bad enough to make it clear there's a demand, it keeps getting over-looked by the opensource developers.

There's plenty of demand that's going to grow since subaru eliminated the 5spd from the FXT community.

Idk why the 4eat is subject to such neglect. I guess back when opensource was in it's early stages 4eat guys weren't as numerous or mod-crazy, so 4eat's were left out of the development process.

A member of the Subaruforester.org forums found this link:

http://www.alcyone.org.uk/ssm/tcureverse.html

this guy cracked the SVX TCU and posted alot of useful information about it.

So I'm revisiting the TCU reprogramming info, and i found a 2005 Forester N/A TCM pak file. Here's a link to it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9760777/31711AJ361.pak

I also found out some data for the file:

Decryption Keyword: 7494C5BC

SUM Value: 0450

New CID: 86F37WB0

Now we have a TCM rom file there, with what i can only assume is the Keyword to Decrypt the file, now what?
