New Person here trying to find out basics????

Hello Everyone, I am new to openecu and I am instrested in learning how to remap ecu's. I have purchased a galleto cable which I have used to back up my orginal map. I then found a map which claimed to be a performance map and loaded it onto my ecu. However, the car did not start after. So I then Uploaded the orginal map onto the ecu and the car worked correctly.

Details of car is a Renault Clio 172 sirrus 34 Euro 4 ecu

Anyway the help I was after is what software could I use to edit the standard map myself as apposed to using someone elses. or if anyone can help me with the standard map to get me started?
