That goes from me too :D

BTW barry, tested an evo 7 ralliart ecu in my 6 RSII earlier, car started and ran fine, but the fans were on constantly.

No wireing mods done, just litterly plug and play

Sounds like the fan circuit uses a different pin an open circuit to the fan controller will make them run all the time. Normally when it's getting 5v it is off and the ecu lowers the voltage to bring on the fans on from there.

Yeh I need to swap 4 wires around apparently to get the fans to work correctly.

Just wanted to confirm to myself that the car will actually run using an e7 Ralliart Ecu.

Was a bit sceptical if I am honest, as the e7 has a 256k flash and the e6's are 128k

both u guys have evo VI? GSR, RS or RSII? A friend of mine has a VI GSR and there's no white second connector :?

I have a 6 RSII, Barry has a 5 RS.

all evo 5's and 6's be it, GSR, RS or RSII have the white connector.

Tell him to take the bottom part of the dashboard off and have a good look about. It will be there somewhere.

thanks....will do. I can find the connector on VII up (right next to the OBD-II connector)...VI and below...noluck so far.

yes it was located beside the obdII connector on my 8,
I thought my 5 didnt have one until I removed the panel underneath the steering wheel to fit some cables for my oil pressure gauge and there it was tied up to the cable loom beside the steering column,
its there alright only the evo 4 didnt have them,

EVO7 ECU uses PWM to control variable speed fan. On EVO7,8,9 there is a fan control module mounted on the radiator fan shroud.
EVO6 ECU uses a simple on/off system with hi/lo speed relays.

Be careful you could damage the EVO7 ECU (if you haven't already!) the PWM output is not designed to switch relays.

So you need to control the lo/hi speed fan relays seperately somehow using a temperature switch or wire in a complete EVO7 fan setup.

I just can't believe you guys can't spend 5 minutes looking at a wiring diagram

I have been told, all that is needed to get it working correctly is this:

Disconenct the idle switch wire (Pin 87).

Then swap wires 32 and 34 (A/C Lo and Hi fan). Disconnect 20 and 21 (rad Lo and Hi fan)and connect 20 to the wire that is now at 32 and connect 21 to the wire that is now at 34.

The A/C fan only runs when the aircon is on how is that going to help? Also it runs in low speed as soon as you press the A/C button, not engine temp controlled.

I did ask a similar question.

This was the reply

It won't cause a problem. It is working the same as before, except that the a/c fan pins are being used to trigger the radiator fans as well as the a/c fans. The ECU only pulls the fan relays to ground, so it is not as if the total fan current is passing through the ECU.

Who is giving you this advice?
This means you have NO RADIATOR FANS AT ALL unless you press the aircon button and have the heater fan on, a really great solution :(
Then if you have the A/C button in the fans will run at low speed ALL the time.

Also yes the ECU only pulls the fan relay to ground but there will still be a limit on what current that channel can handle.

That info is taken from a thread on the MLR, the guy that posted it, has done this mod to an evo 6 using an evo 7 ecu.

He says it works 100% as it should do.

I am not saying it does work, I am not saying it doesn't work either.

All I can do is try it and see.

Can you post or PM me a link to that thread?
