I'm sure everyone has noticed, lately, the OpenECU.org wiki has be flooded with spam links and unrelated pages designed to increase the search rankings of random pages (mostly asian language sites).
Anyways, I am currently keeping an eye on the official OpenECU pages on the wiki, removing spam as soon as I see it. I'm doing this mainly because I probably have mild OCD, but I'll eventually get bored of doing it.
OCD and bordem aside, the spam can be limited by a couple of things. MediaWiki.org has several suggestions about how to secure their software from spam (start here http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Documentation:Security)
This page talks about restricting access to some, part or all of some or all of the pages on the wiki. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Pr ... t_creation
Ultimately, it appears that the majority of the content is only legitimately created (us spam removers aside) by a select few registered users. I would recommend a triage of limiting any editing of any pages to those few people, and deleting all those extra pages.
