noob: which tatrix cable?

Postby mr_yellow » Fri Oct 14, 2005 1:35 pm

Hi guys,

I've been visiting this site off and on and recently wanted to get the tatrix cable to play around with it. However I noticed there's only one version of the cable on the tatrix site. What happened to the WRX version?

I heard it was sold out and a new version is in the works, but as the new one come out yet? Is the "generic" version still compatible with the WRX?

Also, Is there a "dummy's guide" to all of this?

Thanks!

The generic will work, but you cannot download or upload roms or maybe maps

i'm going to start working on some more organized information pages... the new cable which is getting made as we speak has a software switchable programming voltage which allows it to behave as both a Subaru-specific reprogramming cable and a generic OBD cable.

Colby,

Have you found out why the my cable fail?

My wrx cable is not working and behaving like the first cable.

I want to order v1.2, but I need to make sure what is causing this failure before I buy.

Is the new cable and same design as the first?

Please pm me a # I can call you, since the # in my email does not work.\

Thanks.

I'm really at a loss as to why the cables do not work for you. The cable you returned to me seems to be working perfectly on 3 different computers. In fact, I am using it in an embedded datalogging PC in my rally car right now. I'm not sure if you are having an issue with the drivers, or if there is a problem with your USB host controller. The new 1.2 design still uses the same USB interface chip, so I can't imagine that things will improve much for you with that version.

LOL.

I tried the wrx cable on two IBM T41 and my computer.

As you can see from the USB viewer, there is a problem, for which I opened a case with FTDI, which is closed now.

I have other USB devices that are still working, but unlike them, I keep the cable in the car.

I start the car and then plug in the cable.

Sometimes I turn of the car and then unplug.

I always keep the cable role up in the form it comes.

Well, I will try one last time.

I will purchase the new cable sometime soon, otherwise, I will try and see if I can get a AP one.

I just purchase the new cable.

I will see how this goes.

The only thing I can think about is that my ECU is damaging the cable or excessive heat in the car.

Everthing single computer I use the cable with does not recognise it.

I have a JECS ECU.
